So, who am I? And what makes me qualified to show you all of this?

I'm Coach Sharm, Fitness Director, Personal Trainer and "SuperTrainer" (Urban, Straits Times, Feb 2012). I'm also a University consultant lecturer with a Master of Science degree in Exercise & Sports Science and Degree in Economics (NUS). I lecture at NTU, SMU, IMD (Swiss Business School). I have more than 10 USA & international certifications, 5000 individual clients, 100 corporate clients, 20 years experience. I'm also a trained master trainer for BOSU, PRAMA, TRX, NASM and TWIST.  MY BACKSTORY

I currently work with hundreds of men and women helping them to build bodies they love while freeing them from restrictive diets, food obsession, binge eating and endless hours of cardio.

Much like you, I was once trapped in a vicious cycle of restriction then binge.

You see, for most of my life, I hated my body. I tried every single diet under the sun from shake diets to keto, to low carb, to high protein and every protocol of fasting.

I remember at one point I ate banana walnut bread only 8 weeks straight.

I would train 6 to 7 days per week, sometimes twice a day. I would binge eat like there's no tomorrow. Then I would make myself sick.

I was constantly stuck on this yo-yo diet train and I was tied to the number on the scales. It was exhausting and it ruled my life. NO matter what I looked like I was never happy.

That all changed when I started to learn from scientists and read academic journals on fat loss and exercise. I learnt that carbohydrates and sugar are not the enemies and that I needed to eat more food to heal my metabolism and lose body fat.

I learnt how to train for performance and get strong and I stopped killing myself with hours of cardio. In fact, I now only train three days per week, 45 minutes a session.

I finally have a body I love and I am free, free from food restriction and binge eating. It changed my life so much that I've not only helped a handful of people as my clients, but hundreds and hundreds of individuals.

             But, this is only the beginning of the problem. 

THERE'S A HUGE PROBLEM IN THE FAT LOSS INDUSTRY

There are many 'experts' and trainers out there that have not invested in proper, full education on fitness and training. Many go through 8 to 30 hour lessons, pass a certification test and call themselves experts! Beware. Their lack of knowledge (compared to experts with more than 800 hours of education) can be dangerous - for example, they may teach one thing that is trending  (such as a particular diet) but may not work, or worse hurt and make you worse (such as atkins diet).

Because of this, yo-yo diets continue to happen 🙁

It’s said that, “By 2030, 86.3% of adults will be overweight and 51.1% obese.”

Yet, over the past ten years, the number of weight loss products, services, gyms, and personal trainers has increased by 800%.

Why?

Is it because ketogenic diets don’t work?

Is it because cardio doesn't work?

Is it because calorie deficits and restrictive diets don’t work.

YES!!!! Well, some may argue that they work, most of them would agree that this would only work in the short term.

The cause of this epidemic is that we live in a society conditioned to believe that quick fixes work.

We live in a society where people have long forgotten that achieving goals in life is driven on the backbone of grit, persistence, and hard work.

Instead, busy men and women have been conditioned to believe that there is ‘an easier way’.

And, in a desperate attempt to find something easier, they try every single new quick fix diet out there which sets them up for failure every single time. In fact men and women not only get fatter and fatter each time they do these diets they also end up with poor sleep, hormonal issues, binge eating, digestive issues, no sex drive, erratic moods and zero energy.

Think about this for a second.

THE REASON WHY WE FAIL IS BECAUSE WE ARE SET UP TO FAIL

And, do you know who profits from all of this?

The companies and celebrities making billions of dollars sold from supplements, products, gym memberships, e-books, training programs, pills, potions, creams, and the list goes on and on.

If you’re like me, you would have experienced this many times over.

WHY IS IT WITH SO MUCH PROFOUND KNOWLEDGE ON THE INTERNET,  WE DO WE STILL FAIL?

If you're like many other people who want to lose weight, you may have been reading how to lose weight. Some may even apply what they're learnt. But why do the weight still refuse to go away permanently?

  • Wrong, misleading information from big corporations who want to sell their products and systems and we get suckered into drinking shakes instead of eating mindfully
  • Confusion - too many conflicting articles and studies. Paralysis by analysis.
  • Lack of skills on how to perform the tasks needed to succeed for the long term. We need skills, not meal replacements.
  • No accountability - there's nobody to check in with, so it does not matter if we fail. It's easier when we have others in the same boat as us.
  • Don't know where to start. Sometimes they start too strong and lose steam. Precise and gradual.
  • Inability to control our environment, especially when the people around them shows love by feeding food continuously
  • Have the impression that workouts need to be strenuous and long. My workouts are moderate. 3x a week. Short workouts.
  • They believe that best exercise is long, slow distance cardio. Oh my god.
  • Too difficult. It's not. It's easy if you get the right guidance.
  • Believe that the only way to lose weight is 'Eat Less, Move More' - It's not!!
  • They have to deprive themselves of the things they love to eat, such as ice cream and cakes. I eat ice cream everyday and my bodyfat% is about 10%!
  • No proper guidance from an experience expert who cares for them. I'm here for you, if you have me.

THE REASON WHY WE FAIL IS BECAUSE WE ARE SET UP TO FAIL

And, do you building a toned and athletic body comes down to three main things that control your insulin, HgH, Ghrelin and other hormones that makes or breaks your body:

1. Mindful nutrition: You can eat ANYTHING you want, but at the right time and place. Learn the strategies such as to eat and be satisfied at 80% full and eat slower than usual to signal the brain that you're satisfying your cravings.

2. Program the mind: The mind controls everything. Learn and implement the right fitness and fatloss psychology methods (such as using NLP methods) that helps you to thrive in your everyday healthy habits and routines.

3. Move smart: Get stronger to improve your metabolism and burn more calories while you're resting. Do not do mindless, non-stop cardio!

It’s a simple concept, really.

#CSMENTORSHIP METHOD

In fact, I’ve boiled this whole thing down to a five stage process the #csMentorship method.

I've used my years of research at degree and masters level developing in the area of personal development, fitness and health industry. In fact, I've developed more than 10 premium courses in these areas.

STAGE #1: PROGRAMMING YOUR MIND AND DEVELOPING ANCHOR HABITS

Most men and women give up far too soon.

WHY?

Because the fitness industry sells you a 12 week challenge that guarantees you can get the body you want in 12 short weeks....... NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

Most men and women have been doing what they have been doing for many many years you cannot undo all that damage and build your dream body in 12 short weeks.

Lose unhealthy weight and get a fitter body and keep getting better. We do this by developing good, simple to do routines and following through. Learn to eat slowly to enjoy food. Learn how to eat til 80% and be satisfied. Learn how to make 10 minutes of your time to reduce fat easily.

STAGE #2: SET METABOLIC FOUNDATIONS  

The biggest problem you will face when trying to get into shape is the majority of programs focus on the wrong thing - weight lost on the scales.

The fitness industry model of eat less and do more is fundamentally flawed.

1) When you drastically cut calories and food groups and increase your energy expenditure these things happen:

Metabolism suffers - you have to eat less and less and do more and more to get results and you pile the weight back on as soon as you start eating more calories again

  • Nutrient deficiencies - from limited calorie intake
  • Sleep issues
  • Low energy
  • Hormonal issues - PMS and menopausal issues
  • Poor digestion - bloating, constipation or IBS
  • Immune function suffers - no sex drive
  • Erratic moods

2) When you keep doing cardio only to lose weight, you'll switch on the compensatory engine - this encourages your body to crave and seek more food to 'keep up' over the long run. This will result in a vicous cycle of weight loss and weight gain. Even if you lose your weight by just doing cardio, when you stop doing cardio in the future, your body will gain the weight all again because now you're not burning as much.

You’re not going to achieve a toned and athletic physique by starving yourself or exercising yourself non-stop.

You must first build your metabolic base. Nutrient deficiencies must be addressed and all the subjective and objective measures of metabolism must be improved: sleep, energy, mood, digestion, menstrual cycle, sex drive, resting temperature and resting pulse. This also means building quality muscles to increase metabolism.

3) Learn how to fix and use your hormones to work for you. Grelin's job is to make you hungry and crave for more food. Insulin will stop your body from burning fat. Leptin decrease your appetite. HgH will help build and tone your muscles and metabolism. Get the right strategies to increase and decrease these hormones and use them to work for you.

4) Once you have improved all the subjective measures of metabolism and fixed hormonal issues you must then stabilise and maintain a new set metabolic set point at higher calories and focus on performance based training - 1) get stronger and 2) be a champion at mindful eating.

5) Create the environment to work for you.

STAGE #3: PROGRESSIVE EXECUTION

This level has more of a singular focus on reaching your strength milestones in order for a specific cut phase to occur.

Think of it like this: You spend a decent amount of time improving your metabolism, nutrient deficiencies and eliminating self-sabotaging habits like binge eating, cutting calories etc.

Your Body has thanked you for putting in this work and is feeling the best it has ever been.

You have made some great strength progress, but not enough in order to have the muscle to show off. But you're in too much of a hurry to cut your calories.

Question: What do you think is going to happen if you haven't built any decent muscle underneath???

Answer: Your calories are going to have to get so low in order for you to look the way you want to, therefore you will be back to square 1 - Do NOT make this mistake. 

The right answer is to change your training methods so you achieve more muscle tone. The beauty of this is that now you'll get the opportunity to eat more protein, and will lose fat in the process. How beautiful is that!

STAGE #4 : ENERGIZE AND PERFORM

By now you have reached the optimised version of yourself.

Your body composition is now exactly where you want it to be as your adherence and consistency has been on point for an extended period of time.

You have learnt to roll with the punches and understand the bigger picture of how this whole process works.

At this point you have taken back the reigns of your nutrition completely you know what works for your body and you can do your own meal plans.

In this phase you continue to build on your technique to become a more competent at getting fitter and build your base strength.

STAGE #5 :  EVERYDAY WIN

You now look like you want to look.

Your metabolism is strong and you can eat 2000+ calories and sit a healthy body fat and not put on body fat.

You have the knowledge and skills to eat mindfully and maintain your physique without having to track everything that goes in your mouth.

You have broken free from food obsession for good.
